Mid-way up the High Street is the Old Town Hall built in 1851-2. It was designed by George Low in an elaborate Gothic style with Italianate features using bricks and stone from Totternhoe quarries near Dunstable. It replaced a centuries-old building called the Market House which fell into disrepair. The town council moved to the Civic Centre in Marlowes in 1966. Today the building is a venue for stage and music events.
