The barn at the rear of the Griffin in The Broadway, Amersham was the surviving part of the former stables that once formed an arch across the rear yard of the coaching inn. This was part of a longer stables/barn which once extended right to the rear boundary. By 2020 the timber frame was very rotten, and threatening collapse of the cottage, with only the later additions preventing this. It was time to remove both the failed timber and the 20th century alterations.
