Land is planted in rotation, and it's not left fallow. The fields of yellow plants no longer contain oil seed rape, but mustard which is grown as a cover crop. Its deep tap roots help to aerate the soil ready for sowing using direct drilling. Sometimes beans are grown in the rotation cycle and sold for animal feed.
