Set close to the porch door of the church is a gravestone to Peter, The Wild Boy, who died in 1785. This poor soul was found in a wood in Hanover in 1725 when 12 years old. He feasted just on nuts and berries and did not speak. On the instruction of the future Queen Caroline, he was brought to England and lived on a farm in the parish until his demise aged 72. To this day in 2017 flowers are still mysteriously put on his grave at regular intervals.
