I think Colin was first diagnosed with cancer in 2003. Courses of chemotherapy seemed to cure it, he refused to let it stop him walking and he always managed to get fit for our summers in the Alps, until the last in 2006. I vividly remember on this walk over Remenham Hill, when he was having a week off from chemotherapy and needed more rests than me. The only time, probably!
