In 1860 the first hall and reading room in the village was a room in the Manor House; they were moved to John of Gaddesden's House in 1894. In 1921 a WWI wooden army hut was erected and used as a hall until it burnt down in 1943. A new hall was put up in 1957 and was extended in 1973.
