This circular walk of about 8 km (5 miles), taking three hours at a leisurely pace and excluding pub stops, starts at Chenies village green where there is limited roadside parking. Map reference O.S. TQ 017 983.

A couple of short cuts are mentioned in the captions to help if you wish to reduce the distance or avoid uphill sections. These are between Locations 8 and 15, and between Location 20 and the start point.

The walk guide runs anti-clockwise around the route but it is interesting in both directions.

This circular walk of about 8 km (5 miles) takes about three hours at a leisurely pace, excluding pub stops. It starts at the public car park at Great Missenden which is pay and display. On Mondays – Saturdays it is £2.50 for 4 hours plus, but it is free on Sundays and Bank Holidays. Parking in the road outside the car park is also free on Sundays and Bank Holidays but on other days it is limited to a stay of one hour only. Map reference O.S. SP 894 014.

This walk guide runs anti-clockwise around the route taking the gentler climb out of the valley past the church and leaving the steeper path for the descent later.

This circular walk of about four and a half miles taking a couple of hours at a leisurely pace, excluding pub stops, starts just to the West of Old Amersham. There is limited car parking in the road leading to the Shardeloes gateway entrance from the roundabout on the A413. Map reference O.S. SU 947978.

The direction taken around this walk is based on it being better to start with the uphill section climbing out of the valley while still fresh. A gentle walk follows this across the top, then back down into the valley for refreshments. Suitably fortified there is then a gentle meander along the valley back to the start point.
