The Grade II listed St Mary Mission Hall in the nearby hamlet of Ballinger bears a plaque which says 'This school and lecture room was erected at the sole cost of A Watson Esq, Lee House for the benefit of the poor. 1873.' The cottages to the left are called Watson Cottages.
