When I was 16 I decided to take a cycling trip to London and from there to continue along the Thames Valley, inspired by Jerome K Jerome's "Three Men in a Boat". Joined by a friend, we spent the first night at a youth hostel in Ivinghoe, my first of many experiences of such accommodation, and then a few days later we stopped at Henley-on-Thames. This was my first visit to a town that I have since come to know very well. The photo was taken for a project that was part of an Open College of the Arts course in photography I was doing in 1990.
