In 2005 the old Pheasant pub is now the Cape Fish Inc. seafood restaurant. The redundant horse-trough seen in the 1920 photograph has disappeared and the once quiet roadway is now the widened and busy A413, necessitating a double mini roundabout at the cross road and all the additional signs and markings to control the traffic.

The Pheasant pictured around 1900 after the brewers, Wellers of Amersham, had covered the ancient brickwork with rendering and mock timbers in the popular Brewers' Tudor style. They had also added a new section to the left hand end, slightly taller than the original. Advertising 'Horses & Traps to let on hire', they provided a drinking trough at the roadside for resident and visiting animals.
