Lacey Green Windmill is one of my favourite Chiltern Society sites. Windmills in general fascinate me, and some years ago I enjoyed a guided tour round this one. I chose the image because it’s hard to believe that the dilapidated structure it shows could ever be brought back from the dead and transformed into the magnificent example we see today. The dedication and skill of the people involved is extraordinary, and I was delighted to be present in 2013 when it was presented with a prestigious heritage award by The Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
