Plans were drawn up to convert Stockfields to a nursing home, but in the event nothing happened. In 2003 the house was sold to Linden Homes. They demolished the original property and developed a small estate of houses and flats on the site.

The site was renamed 'Fernleigh' although the access road retains the original name as Stockfield Close.
