Beaconsfield Post Office seems to have had so many homes it was almost peripatetic. The telegraph arrived in the town in 1860 and this handsome building became the post and telegraph office. The listing has it as 18th century but this was probably when the original building was refronted in brick. It is said to have been converted into three cottages around 1740.
