Hampden House in Great Hampden is a Grade I listed building that was restored in 1987-89. The main body of the house is Elizabethan. The Hampden family, the Earls of Buckinghamshire, have not lived in the house since 1938. It became a girls school and then a film set for Hammer Horror Group - which had a marked effect on the décor. The house is now owned by the Hampden Group and provides offices and a spectacular setting for weddings.
