St Huberts Cottages on East Common were built about 1866 by the eccentric author and adventurer, Thomas Mayne Reid. There were originally 8 cottages with a public reading room in the centre. When Reid went bankrupt his property was acquired by John Bramley-Moore of St. Huberts, hence the name. Grade II listed.
