The street where I live! At 3 o’clock on a November afternoon in West Ealing the sun has already gone off the street but shines brightly higher up.This avenue of fifty handsome semi-detached houses was built in 1899 to house the commuters from London as the railway reached out to these parts. They came with a servant bell circuit and smaller bedrooms at the back for live-in staff. Sadly now the regular row of street trees has been disrupted by dropped curbs and many of the front gardens are being paved over to make room for cars.

An interesting commentary on this suburban street. Often we know little of the interest behind the buildings themselves, so this scene is improved for that knowledge. Photographically however, it is the light that captures my eye. That lovely yellowy colour is often seen when the sun is at a low angle and shining under clouds. It is an enchanting capture in this light.
