In the bodging area there are interesting descriptions of how wood was grown, processed and used. A saw-pit demonstrates how the wood was sawn into manageable planks. The pit was about 7ft by 4ft with a frame on top that was worked by two men. The 'top dog' guided the saw whilst the 'under dog' helped pull the wood through – and got covered in sawdust.
