Stockwood House, on the southern edge of Luton, was the home of the Crawley family from 1708. Surrounded by 100 hectares of parkland, the house was demolished in 1964 and since 1945 the Park has been owned and managed by Luton Council. It is well worth a visit, with period formal gardens, museums and a good cafe.
