Luton Town Football Club was founded in 1885 and has always been known as 'The Hatters’. Their original ground was in Dallow Lane near the station, but players frequently complained that they couldn't see the ball for smoke so the club moved to Dunstable Road until that site was sold for housing. In 1905 they moved to their present ground in Kenilworth Road.
