The Chinnor and Princes Risborough line was part of the former Great Western Railway branch between Watlington and Princes Risborough until it closed to passenger traffic in 1957. This section became freight-only, carrying cement from the Chinnor cement works until 1989. The Chinnor and Princes Risborough Railway Association then restored the line and now operates services between Chinnor and platform 4 at Princes Risborough station.

This evocative photo celebrates a bygone age and reminds me that not all progress is good progress. How much better to take one’s time in life rather than rushing from London to Birmingham in order to save a few minutes.
