I have not flown a glider from the London Gliding Club (at Dunstable) but this photo takes me back to my early days at the Midland Gliding Club located on the Long Mynd near Church Stretton in Shropshire.
This is where I learnt to fly gliders and where I first met Janet, my wife to be, who was already a solo pilot when I joined the club. But as Janet lived in Wembley at the time and only made occasional visits to the club our relationship was not destined to blossom.
But then fate stepped in.
I was made redundant and had to move south to a new job in Slough and suddenly the distance between us was no longer a barrier. We subsequently both joined Booker Gliding club at Wycombe Air Park and the rest is history!
