Another notable watermill, and one still in use, is at Mapledurham. In this photograph, however, it is hidden by trees. The Thames is down there somewhere too, underneath the blanket of shallow fog, but Mapledurham House is visible, standing in silhouette. It's a location I like to return to, preferably when the house is closed and there is a peaceful atmosphere about the place. My preferred viewpoint is from the hill to the north, when taking the footpath to Collins End and Goring Heath. December 2011
