A walker on the Icknield Way and Trail near Pirton. Here we descend from the hills and can if desired divert to the pubs of Pirton. The Icknield Way is considered by some to be the most ancient road in Britain. On a dry spring day the Trail at this point has a nice firm surface, but on a wet winter walk the clay and chalk mixture can become very slippery. GR 139309
