Emerging from a the tree-shaded Icknield Way, the Trail enters the Pegsdon Hills a Nature Reserve managed by a Wildlife Trust. There are steep dry valleys here, derived from glacial outwash stream after the last ice age. The views north into Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire are superb. GR 121291
