The parish church of St Peter dates from around 1150. Its expansion reflects the 13th century Decorated style of architecture, featuring a parapet spire and large windows with distinctive stone tracery. A major restoration in 1863-4 included a new roof, new flooring, seating and a heating system. Five buttresses were added to strengthen the chancel walls. In 1891 a masonry storey with a turret staircase replaced the former wooden structure which had housed the bells. New flooring and an electronic organ were installed in the 1960s.
