Stoke Mandeville station lawn features several 1986 sculptures by Sioban Coppinger including one of a former British Rail employee, Leading Railman Bernard Carter, who was one of the old school. He loved his work, he loved his station, but most of all he loved his passengers. He had been at Stoke Mandeville for at least 15 years before he was selected for the sculpture.
