I also loved photographing the Jordans Friends’ Meeting House. I chose for here this picture of the beautiful calm meeting area, taken from the gallery above. It still has the original deal panelling and unmortared brick floor dating from 1688, after Charles II’s Declaration of Indulgence allowed Quakers to build and meet legally for the first time. There was stabling behind for 20 horses of those who attended (now a library) and there is a wonderful collection of paintings and documents from Quaker history, and poignant gravestones, including those of William Penn, his first wife and his deceased children in the grounds outside.
