Another great pleasure were the Chiltern Flower Walks led by Gay, who wrote the excellent Wild Flowers and where to find them in the Chilterns with her father Laurie Fallows. This is one of my favourite photographs from a walk she led to Aston Clinton in May 2012. Butterflies not flowers and redolent of summer – these are probably common blues but could be chalkhill blues, which breed there.
