In 2000 we started following the routes in Alan Charles’ Pub Walks in the Chilterns (much shorter than Ron Pigram’s!). On a Bank Holiday Monday we did his circuit from Nettlebed to find that the Sun Inn was no longer open; but we did discover the Warburg Nature Reserve. One rather sad picture from there was this bee orchid, which Colin photographed growing beside the path near the exit at the far end. Sad, because when we went back to look for it the following year it had vanished, probably dug up.
