We were already photographing the flowers, including wonderful orchids, that we saw on our summer expeditions in the mountains of France and Austria. We were thrilled to park by Homefield Wood, west of Marlow, on one of our early walks and by chance came upon two young people living there in a tent to guard the military orchids – a revelation to us. We visited most years after that and I took this picture when I went back with a friend in 2012.
