Another event that sticks in my memory from 1999 was following a walk from the Flower Pot at Aston across at high level to Henley, then cutting diagonally down to the path back beside the Thames. The marked route clearly took us down through the large garden of a house part way up the road out of Henley, where we were stopped by the owner. He told us there was no footpath and escorted us down out of his garden via a little gate that did take us to the path we wanted lower down. We were annoyed at this and found the address of the Chiltern Society to report it. Our first contact! This photo of a house across the river was taken on the way back, just before we turned up the track to the pub.
