For a town identified with the English branch of the Rothschild banking dynasty, it's ironic that Tring no longer has any banks. The building shown here on the left, at 20 High Street, was built in 1830 as the Tring Bank and was later acquired by the NatWest Bank. It now houses commercial offices while its neighbour (based on an Edwin Lutyens design) was the former HSBC Bank, now converted into a café and restaurant. Fortunately in 2022 residents could still use the original Post Office (far left).
