Both the Pumping Station and the Lock Keeper's house (Lock 38) are Grade 2 listed. The Pumping Station dates from 1838-41 and is built of brown brick in English bond with off-set eaves and a hipped slate roof. The house is later, dated 1909, of colour-washed roughcast with a 20th century roof with overhanging eaves.
