And a fascinating postscript to a great project. Whilst I was photographing planes, my other half noticed a castle marked on the map a short distance away. This is Someries Castle –not a castle at all, but a fortified manor house built in the fifteenth century, and an early example of building with brick. It is a scheduled Ancient Monument with only the gatehouse and chapel remaining.
