In 1989 five young red kites were released into the wild near Stokenchurch. These beautiful birds are now a common sight in the Chilterns. There are so many it is impossible to know their exact numbers, but there are at least 1,000 breeding pairs. Cobstone Mill is a smock mill built around 1816 and overlooks the village of Turville. In 1967 it was the setting for the film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and was later purchased by the actress Hayley Mills.
