I have followed the Swan Uppers along the Thames from time to time. The pageantry is fascinating from the colourful uniforms, historic boats and accompanying flotilla. This picture was taken near Hurley and shows the mother swan planning her brood’s escape from the Swan Uppers, whose aim is to capture and ring the signets.
