The Victoria Hall in Akeman Street was designed by William Huckvale, Lord Rothschild's architect, and built in 1886. It was used for theatricals, dances, meetings and exhibitions until the First World War when it was converted into a military hospital. Now owned by the Council it has reverted to being used for meetings and performances.
