Now a prosperous commuter village near Maidenhead, Taplow has a fascinating history with evidence of settlement going back 10,000 years. Star attractions are Brunel's railway bridge and Taplow Court. The photographs were taken in April-May 2008.

Description The burial mound of Taeppa dates to c 650: a scheduled ancient monument. It is the origin of the village's name. When James Rutland excavated in 1883 he discovered a rich horde that is displayed in the British Museum.

Description The ruins of the medieval St. Nicolas's church next to Taplow mound were demolished in the 1850s. A church had stood on the site since Saxon times. The churchyard remains with features such as this recently restored cross.
