1996. Centre of Lane End looking south east, taken from outside the Post Office. The road from left to right goes to Moor End (l) and Frieth (r). The buildings are (l to r):Golden Palace Chinese Restaurant. (Formerly an Austrian restaurant, and before that a general store, it was built as the Lane End Temperance Hotel in 1899.)Dillons Newsagent. The premises are owned by the local Druce family who formerly ran it themselves as a newsagents.Private house that many years ago was the Post Office.
