The original rood screen has been removed, now that it is a protestant church.

Lollards worshipped and read the bible in English, not in Latin then used in the churches. They did not accept unquestioningly the doctrines of the Roman church which organized religious courts to convict and punish the nonconformists. Amersham was then in the diocese of Lincoln, but Lincoln was sufficiently far away from Amersham for the dissenters not to be too much troubled, so out of a population of 900, there were 200 dissenters.
