Totternhoe, recorded in 1086, is a village in the lowlands of Dunstable Downs. In the 19thC the main occupation for men living in Totternhoe was farm labouring whilst women were employed straw plaiting. As industry moved into Dunstable and Leighton Buzzard people left farming and took jobs in the local towns. Many houses, cottages and pubs, built in the 15thC onwards, are still being used. The photographs were taken by John Hockey in 2012.
