Aston Clinton

A Chiltern escarpment village of about 3,000 people, Aston Clinton is some five miles south east of Aylesbury. It is bisected by the Wendover and Aylesbury arms of the Grand Union Canal. The major linking feature of the escarpment villages is the Icknield Way, “the oldest road in Britain” and a main cross-country route from pre-Roman times extending from Wells-next-the-Sea on the Norfolk coast to the source of the River Kennet in Wiltshire. The photographs were taken by David Lonsdale between August 2007 and April 2008.
